Redemptive Love

I've been reading Hosea lately. (going through the Old Testament) Today I was reading chapter 3, I am truly amazed at this book and how God spoke to Hosea about marrying a harlot and how it is such a beautiful picture of God's redemptive love toward His people. Just as Gomer was an adulteress, so are we an adulteress in so many ways towards God. We are His bride, He has purchased us and wooed us by the blood of His Son and yet we still turn to other "lovers" on a daily basis. God told Hosea to tell his wife that she would not need another and must not seek another's love. And He longingly desires the same for each of us. He has provided the greatest and most satisfying love and yet we continue to try to replace Him with anything and everything but Him!! And yet His mercy continues towards us and His people. Verse 5 says that after the children of Israel return to God and seek His face that they shall then fear Him and His goodness. I am always awed at this incredible picture of lovingkindness. Thank you Lord for your mercies truly are "new every morning". Great is Your Faithfulness!!

Thank you for sharing what you are learning, that really blessed me. I am so amazed at God's love for us, putting up with our unfaithfulness. Yet He is always ready to welcome us back with open arms time and time again. Thank you God for Your mercy and grace.
